Where Faith And Community Join together

“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15-7 nrsvue)

East Lansing

St. Paul Lutheran church
Welcome

We welcome you as a beloved child of God. It doesn’t matter what your age, race, ethnicity, faith, gender identity or expression, marital status, political leanings, neurodivergent status or mental, intellectual or physical ability, in other words, everyone is welcomed just as you are. As a community of the people of God, we are called to minister to all people in our world, knowing that the world is often an unwelcoming place.

Our world can be a place of alienation and brokenness. Christ calls us to reconciliation and wholeness. We strive to love one another as Jesus loves us and to share that love with all others. “For all are one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)” There is a place for you here and you can make a difference. Our main mission is to feed the community as we also support an organization that assists the homeless to find a place to live. If you are not sure about something, please ask anyone. Again, Welcome!

What We Do?

We gather for Christ‑centered worship, preaching, and Holy Communion, and support faith formation for children, youth, and adults. Beyond Sundays, we share life through studies, music, fellowship, and ministries that care for those in need.

st paul helping hands
Why We Help

We help because God has first loved us in Jesus Christ and sends us to share that love with our neighbors. Fed at Christ’s table, we respond with compassion, hospitality, and service so that God’s mercy and hope are made visible in our community.

Questions About St. Paul

New to St. Paul, or gathering information about our Church? Below, we provide answers to the most asked questions.

St. Paul belongs to the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) which is the largest Lutheran Denomination in America. The other denominations tend to be more conservative. For example, we are the only one who ordains women.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, vis an nihil tation doctus, mel ne iriure accusam evertitur. Te omnes repudiandae pri, dolores appetere incorrupte id nam. Mundi doctus mel ad, modo tempor iudicabit vix eu. Duo adhuc noluisse incorrupte.

We have an open table, and all are welcome to come forward to receive communion. We believe communion is a means of grace in the real presence of Christ in the bread and wine. Juice is available if you wish.

We believe baptism is a gift from God and is a means of grace. Therefore, infants can be baptized.

We have Bible Study every Sunday at 9:00am, which is led by a highly qualified member of the faith community who teaches religion at MSU. You do not have to know anything about the bible to attend. Studying scripture can help people to grow in their faith. Membership classes are held separate from Bible Study as necessary.

Worship services normally begin at 10am and will last about 1 hour. Please devote time to joining us for refreshments in the fellowship all afterwards if you are able for fellowship. We would like to get to visit without anyone trying to pressure you to attend or become a member. We are here for whoever wants to join us in worship to offer a safe place to worship as we share the love of Christ..

Our worship is a blended service with both contemporary and traditional worship so there are elements of both so there is something for everyone.

You can attend no matter if you are Lutheran or are even a Christian or an atheist. All are welcome. If you wish to become a member Pastor Carl will meet with you at your convenience.

We have several opportunities to serve on a committee or to assist with the food pantry and/or community garden.

The hymns that we use at St. Paul are from the ELW, With One Voice and other newer hymnals.

We realize visiting can bring anxiety so we do not point out our visitors other than to generically welcome visitors to worship. Our hope is you can relax and enjoy yourself and not worry about any pressure on you. We are here to give you an enjoyable safe place to worship.

We record worship and post to YouTube or make it available on stpaul-el.org under worship.

We are at 3383 E. Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing, 48821 and are East of US-127 and Abbot Road and West of Hagadorn.

Parking is only designated for handicapped parking since our parking lot gives easy access to our front door.

We are a single-story building and are handicapped accessible to people in wheelchairs. We have handicap parking closest to the front doors with automatic front doors.

Each worship has a children’s message after which they are invited to Sunday School except the last Sunday of the month and Summer months.

We have confirmation classes and Funday Sundays for youth.

We do not pressure anyone to become a member. Therefore, we leave it up to you to decide if/when you become a member. If you are curious about of or are thinking of becoming a member you can talk to Pastor Carl.
