bible study

St. Paul Lutheran East Lansing is a Faith Community located in East Lansing, Michigan. Our goal as Lutherans is share the teachings of Christ and his word with the Greater Lansing community. All are welcome and all are invited.

Bible study

We gather on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Join us for good conversation and thinking.

Gather Women’s Bible Study

This group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. We use the study in the Gather magazine, published by the Women of the ELCA, as the basis for discussion and sharing. We do not meet in the summer.

Confirmation Class

The Confirmation Class is offered by Lay Ministers, Kathy G. and Craig A. It meets on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 7 p.m.

Confirmation is a two year course of study with one year focused on the Bible and the second year focused on the Lutheran Catechism. The Bible study year includes sessions on the history of the Bible, the life and teachings of Jesus, an examination of the letters of Paul, overview of the rest of the New Testament, and an examination of the Old Testament. The Lutheran Catechism Year includes sessions on Martin Luther’s life, the 10 Commandments, the Apostles Creed, the sacraments of Communion and Baptism, the Office of the Keys, and Confession.

If you have any questions or if you are an adult or youth who has completed 7th-8th grades and has not been confirmed, please contact the church.

First Communion

St. Paul Lutheran Education offers First Communion classes for those children wishing to commune at the Lord’s Table. If your child is ready to prepare themselves to receive all the blessings that God gives us in and through Holy Communion, please contact the church office at (517) 351-8541 or email at pastor@stpaul-el.org to find out more information.

Sunday school

“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.”

St. Paul is blessed with a wonderful teaching staff. Come join us in sharing in God’s Word. Children ages 4 and up are invited to attend Sunday School during the worship service (10:15-10:45).

Our Mission

To equip our children with the Word of God,
To teach them to know and love God and our neighbors,
To learn and follow Jesus with their hearts and minds and
To reach out to others in service and God’s embrace.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” -Proverbs 22:6

st paul lutheran group bible study in meeting room

Bible study at our Lutheran church is a chance to slow down during the week and listen to God’s Word together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. We meet in a comfortable room at church, open our Bibles, and take time to read, ask questions, and talk about what the passage might mean for our lives today.

Each gathering includes Scripture, conversation, and prayer. Some people come with lots of experience, others are just getting started with the Bible again, and everyone’s voice is welcome. Over time, these simple meetings help us grow in faith, get to know one another more deeply, and see how God’s Word continues to guide and encourage us.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
(Psalm 119:105, NRSV)

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
(Acts 2:42, NRSV)

“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
(2 Timothy 3:16, NRSV)
