March 2007
I am continually astounded by the gifts that are the people of St.
Paul's. A family in the church gave seed money to the church
which has been earmarked to help fund a Health Care
Ministry/Parish Nurse Team. We are blessed with many health care
workers, about a dozen at my count of which over half attended our
organizational meeting on January 30. Former pastor, Paul
Pretzlaff, spoke of the formation of the Health Care Ministry Team
at his congregation, Immanuel Lutheran,
in Grand Ledge. Our group made a commitment to get together once a
month to read, pray, discuss and work to form a Health Care Ministry Team here
at St. Paul's. We will be meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month
at 6:00PM to discuss a chapter of the book, Healing and
Transformation by Dr. Kenneth Bakken. You are welcome to join
us. Books are in the Pastor's Office at $10.00 each. (See other
report on Health Care Ministry Team in March Newsletter.)
I'm hoping others will sign-up for a stint at the
MABA
(Meridian Area Business Association) EXPO on Saturday, March 10. It is a good way
to make our congregation visible in the greater community. We
will make popcorn and hand out small gifts to those who stop by
our booth. It is a lot of fun meeting neighbors and getting out the
word about what a blessing the St. Paul Family is. There is a signup
sheet in the narthex.
As you know, we have already started the season of Lent, a time
when we reflect on the sacrifice our Lord Jesus made to reconcile
us to our heavenly Creator. During this season we are having our
Soup & Bread Suppers at 6pm followed by the Lenten Worship
Service based on the lessons for the Vigil of Easter. It follows the
history of salvation from creation throughout the Bible. Come join
us for this blessing. Following the service we will continue with
Adult Studies. Craig Anderson will lead us in a seven week Book
Study entitled, Reclaiming the "L" Word, Renewing the
Church from Its Lutheran Core by Kelly Fryer.
