February 2006
We have several very interesting events coming here at St. Paul
during February:
The Men's Group sponsored Super Bowl Party starts at 5:30pm
on Sunday, the 5th. There will be a large screen HD-TV and plenty
of food and beverages. There will be games and places for
conversation for those who don't want to spend the whole time
watching the game or ads or Half-time show. Come and have a fun
time.
On Wednesday, Feb 15th at 7:00pm Rev. Hank Langknecht, the new
Christian Communications, i.e. "preaching", Professor at
Trinity
Lutheran Seminary will preach at the service and then do a
presentation for all who come to the 7:30pm Adult Bible Study.
His theme will be: "Do Lutherans Believe the Bible IS the
Word of God?"
- How Scripture is interpreted for sermons
- How Scripture might be interpreted for other things
Everyone is invited to both the service and his presentation. You
don't need to have been to any of the previous Bible Classes. They
are open to the public and free of charge.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22nd we have the opportunity to hear one of the
countries finest Choral Groups,
The Concordia College Choir
will be at the new Charlotte Performing Arts Center
at 7:30pm. I plan to cancel Wed. Service and Bible Study that night and invite
everyone to join us for this great musical event. Tickets are $10 for
Adults and $8 for Students. I invite you to consider carpooling &
caravanning to this event.
Saturday, Feb. 25th will be the 2nd Annual St. Paul Talent and
Dessert Night beginning at 6:30pm. This is a fund-raiser for the
Worship Committees Arts & Music Fund. Last year we had a great
time with members and friends doing all sorts of creative things. If
you are interested contact Sue Jacobs at 333-4335 for talents and
for dessert donations contact Barb Paff at 664-1264. Dust off your
dancing shoes or polish up your instrument and join the fun. There
is a $2.00 donation to enter an act and desserts will cost $2.00 a
piece.
Looking ahead to next month. On Saturday, March 11th the Meridian
Area Business Association will have their Business Expo at
Haslett High School. We are planning to have a booth there for the
church. If you would be interested in helping out there are many
different things to do: Staff the booth for a two-hour stretch, both
adult & youth, make popcorn if we can get a popcorn booth, help
make a backdrop promoting St. Paul's, blow up helium balloons,
help the children with a Bible game, invite people to fill out a
ticket for a drawing, (If you have any good ideas for a prize or
would like to donate one let me know), set-up and knock-down.
Last year over 6,000 people attended this event. These events can
be fun and help get the word out about the congregation.
There are a lot of enjoyable events coming soon. I hope you can
come and be a part of the fellowship.
