January 2006

Happy New Year! It is difficult to believe that we are starting a new year. But I know we already have some new things planned here at church and you can find some things about them in this newsletter:

First, if you haven't received an invitation to a "Cottage Meeting" from one of the members of the Property Committee you soon will. It is an exciting time looking to the future. They want your input on the facilities here at the church. Are they adequate for what you believe we need and are there ways that they can be improved? If you are unable to attend please return the form enclosed in the letter. They will take your concerns seriously.

Second, The Stewardship Committee is beginning a new planning program too. They also need your input as they go to attend some training through a Synod sponsored "Ventures in Stewardship." As part of this you are invited to attend a "Core Values Workshop" on Saturday, January 21st from Noon to 4:00pm. We will look at what we hold as primary values as a congregation and then look at how they are connected or not connected with our Mission Statement. Our new Treasurer, Peary Pearson will lead us through this session. He has had a lot of experience in helping organizations do this process.

Third, we are offering training for the different areas of worship leadership and service during this month. They begin at 11:00am Saturdays. The short one-hour session are as follows:

  • Jan. 7th - Assisting Ministers
  • Jan. 14th - Readers
  • Jan. 21st - Ushers
  • Jan. 28th - Counters

I hope even those who have been through training will be able to attend so that we can get some organization to the process of worship leadership and service.
